Transmutación - Transmutation

The piano keys, as well as almost all keyboard instruments (harpsichord, organ, etc.) are disposed in a thin and long rectangle that has limits, the first key strikes the lowest sound while the last one the highest one. But this instrument could still use more frequencies within the audible human range, still, there will always be a beginning and an end. I decided to deconstruct a piano, but not a new one, one that wouldn’t work anymore (in a terminal state), in order to create new silent objects and signs that would still communicate but through new codes. The first sculpture of this process was Transmutation, consisting in placing all the piano keys in a circle of approximately two meters in diameter. Within the first circle, there are two other internal ones, the first one conformed but some of the hammers and the second one with some of the small mechanisms that articulate them. The result is a new inanimate being that can no longer sound, but that closes the finite low high space into an infinite space where these two poles become somehow connected.

Las teclas de un piano así como aquellas de casi todos los instrumentos de teclado (clavecín, órgano, etc) están dispuestas en un rectángulo delgado y largo que tiene limites, la primera tecla percute al sonido mas grave y la última al más agudo. Pero este instrumento podría todavía utilizar algunas frecuencias más dentro del rango audible del ser humano obstante, de cualquier modo siempre habrá un comienzo y un fin. Decidí deconstruir un piano, pero no un piano nuevo, sino uno que ya no sirviera (que estuviera desahuciado), para crear nuevos objetos y signos silentes que siguieran comunicando pero con nuevos códigos. La primera escultura de este proceso fue Transmutación, que consistió en colocar todas las teclas del piano en un círculo de aproximadamente dos metros de diámetro, dentro de este hay otros dos círculos internos, el primero hecho con algunos de los martinetes de las teclas, y el otro con algunos de los pequeños mecanismos que articulan a los martinetes. El resultado es un nuevo ser inanimado que ya no puede sonar, pero que cierra el espacio finito grave-agudo en un espacio infinito en donde estos dos polos quedan de algún modo conectados.
